Knoxville, TN – In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s second annual Global Week of Service, October 6 – 12, more than 25 volunteers from The Hampton Inn West at Cedar Bluff are doing a donation drive and hands on evening of service, at the Ronald McDonald House in Knoxville. Community service is a tradition embedded in Hilton Worldwide’s culture, and acts of volunteerism occur year-round across our portfolio of ten distinct brands and 4,000 properties. Hampton Inn West at Cedar Bluff’s efforts are a part of Hilton Worldwide’s week-long celebration of the company’s commitment to serving the communities where we live, work, and travel.
“Our biggest commitment in the hospitality industry is to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable place for our guests to stay,” said Lisa Benker, General Manager at Hampton Inn West. “We are so excited to extend our “Hamptonality” to the Ronald McDonald House, and assist them with their vision to provide a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.”
Sales Manager, Whitney Holliday explains, “The team here at the Hampton West has chosen the Ronald McDonald House for our Global Week of Service project for 2013. This organization is special to us because it helps keep families together in a time of crisis. These families travel far from home for weeks, or even months, at a time to receive treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. A few members of our team will be spending an evening at the Ronald McDonald House itself during the Global Week of Service cooking dinner, sorting donations, and doing various chores as needed by the staff. Our team as a whole has been collecting donations including cleaning products, hygiene items, and snacks for the parents to take with them to the hospital while visiting their child. Everyone from housekeeping to maintenance is getting involved and it is great to see our team come together in support of this awesome cause! We would like to thank Hampton for bringing the need for community involvement to our attention, and we hope to make our partnership with Ronald McDonald House a monthly or quarterly initiative, not just a yearly project!”
During Global Week of Service, Team Members will be encouraged to share their personal stories of service and hospitality through a variety of channels. Photos and stories from Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service events will be posted at www.hiltonworldwide.com/serve, on the Hilton Worldwide Facebook page and on the @HiltonWorldwide Twitter account throughout the week.
In 2012, during Hilton Worldwide’s inaugural Global Week of Service, Team Members at more than 600 properties and offices completed more than 800 volunteer projects in 401 cities across the company’s global footprint. The projects focused on engaging Team Members and delivering on Hilton Worldwide’s commitment to Travel with Purpose by creating opportunities, strengthening communities, celebrating cultures and living sustainably. This year, the company aims to build upon this community engagement and is striving to complete more than 1,200 service projects.
