When looking for a place to keep cool during the heat of the summer, meeting planners and event organizers agree that Sevierville, Tenn. has become a premiere destination. In this month’s issue of ConventionSouth magazine, Sevierville is highlighted as the top pick among the magazine’s readers and fans for the “South’s Cool Spots for Summer Meetings.”
“This is such a great honor for our area and the Sevierville community,” says David Bobo, Sevierville Convention Center director. “Our facility is one part of an entire collaborative experience that meeting, event and trade show attendees receive when they visit Sevierville. We are fortunate to have wonderful businesses in this community to work with that support the wide variety of events we host each year.”
The fan-voted contest, hosted by ConventionSouth, showcased 60 destinations that are well fit for summer meetings as they are located within the South’s higher elevations, offering a milder climate during the peak of summer. ConventionSouth editor Marlane Bundock added, “By offering a place to stay cooler during the hot summer months, meeting planners can boost attendance and create a more comfortable experience for participants and therefore, increase the success of the gathering.”
Amanda Marr, Sevierville Chamber of Commerce’s marketing director, echoed Bobo’s excitement. “Sevierville is thrilled to receive this recognition and we repeatedly hear from meeting planners that their attendees love coming to Sevierville because it’s a great opportunity to bring their families and enjoy quality time together.”
“Not only does Sevierville offer a beautiful Smoky Mountain setting and great summer weather, but we’ve also got so much to do – from outlet shopping and golf to cool family-friendly lodging like water park resorts.”
ConventionSouth magazine is based in Gulf Shores, Ala., and is circulated to more than 18,000 meeting professionals located across the country that book meetings held within the South.
