About The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs

Knoxville recently gained a new wellness center that’s truly unlike any other facility in the market. The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs, a new state-of-the-art health and wellness facility, is focused on creating a healthy body and mind through a balanced lifestyle.

The Wellness Center is unique to the Knoxville area because it is a one-stop shop for a comprehensive and well-integrated array of health and wellness services that are medically based. The Center is differentiated by having an on-site medical director to oversee all programs and services.

The philosophy of The Wellness Center is based on a six-point “sphere of wellness” that creates a totally balanced approach to a healthy, well-rounded life. The six points include fitness, nutrition, peace of mind, restoration, knowledge and relationships.

“We provide a way for you to get and stay healthy,” said Lisa Wolf, Managing Director of The Wellness Center. “Our programs and classes enable you to get started, meet goals and live a healthier life. They include exercise and fitness that’s tailored to your individual needs and nutrition and a healthy diet that’s practical and enjoyable.”

Members will receive a comprehensive wellness assessment when they join. For a fee, each member may also have access to his or her own coach to monitor progress and offer encouragement. This total-resource approach produces better outcomes for the member because every customized plan is based on individual needs and concerns. The staff are credentialed and will provide expert advice to members.

The programs and services offered by The Wellness Center are extensive. Services include:

  • Nutrition and Healthy Eating Classes
  • Weight Management
  • Tobacco-Use Cessation
  • Stress Management and Better Sleep
  • Physical Examinations
  • Changing Lifestyles Program for Oncology and Diabetic Patients
  • Fitness Classes like Dance and Spin
  • Strength and Conditioning Classes such as “Work It Circuit” and “PowerCore”
  • Separate Classes for Age Groups – Youth, Seniors
  • Yoga on the Lawn

Anyone may become a member of The Wellness Center. Additionally, physicians refer patients to The Center for participation in its programs and services.  If a physician’s practice has specific needs, The Wellness Center staff can work to customize a program. The Center also specializes in corporate and employee wellness plans.

Another unique aspect of The Wellness Center is its ability to track any member’s progress. Through a customized, online software program, information about the member’s progress is updated and is accessible at all times to the member. With the member’s permission, information may also be shared with his or her physician or employer.

The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs was developed by ProVision Healthcare and is part of the East Tennessee Healthcare Center (ETHC), a comprehensive health and wellness campus that focuses on preventative, predictive and personalized medicine. ETHC serves all patients and physicians in the region.
