Challenge

A new state-of-the-art facility – The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs – was set to debut in the Knoxville market. The focus of the health and wellness facility is to create a healthy body and mind through a balanced lifestyle. The Wellness Center needed Ackermann P’s assistance to generate awareness of the new facility and drive membership registrations.

 

Plan

Ackermann PR worked with The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs to develop a well-balanced communications strategy. The Wellness Center is unique to the Knoxville area because it is a one-stop shop for a comprehensive and well-intrigued array of health and wellness services that are medically based. The center has an on-site medical director to oversee all programs and services.

 

Pitch platforms were built around these key messages and we turned to the media to tell the center’s story and differentiate it from its competitors, other gyms and work-out facilities. Ackermann PR also assisted with planning a grand opening for The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs. Guests who attended the grand opening would also receive their first month of membership free.

 

Impact

In advance of the grand opening, The Wellness Center was featured on WBIR-TV’s popular show, Live at Five at Four, with a live two-minute interview from inside the center. Numerous other articles were placed in various publications, including a feature on UPI.com – a leading provider of critical information to media outlets, businesses, governments and researchers worldwide, with more than 2.8 million unique visits per month. 

 

When the Wellness Center at Dowell Springs opened in September 2010, the news coverage intensified with a front-page story in the Knoxville News-Sentinel’s Business section. The grand opening – held over two days – was a success and membership registrations immediately followed. News coverage of this unique facility continues as The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs was successfully positioned as a one-of-a-kind health and wellness facility.
